Transitions Films: End of Suburbia (13K)

The Transition Film season is finally underway.
The first film, on May 1st, will be The End of Suburbia, a film that discusses the dwindling supply of cheap energy in the form of fossil fuels and its effect on society. Described as shocking, it's the "must see" film on Peak Oil.

By now the Devon town of Modbury is synonymous with plastic bags, having received national media attention for being the first town to ban them. On May 29th we'll be showing the film that kickstarted the movement, Message in the Waves. Are you passionate about banning the plastic? Come along and join the discussion.

Our third film on July 2nd is The Power of Community, the inspiring story of how Cuba met the peak oil challenge.

All films will be shown upstairs at the Ram, Widcombe from 7.30pm and will be followed by a discussion. Entry is by donation.

A poster for the films is attached to this email. Feel free to print this out and display or distribute it - email me for a better quality pdf or black and white version.

And a related event:

As part of Bath Music Festival, the Little Theatre will be showing Koyannisqati (Life Out of Balance), a terrifying, wordless portrayal of the devastation we wreak on our world. The film, shown on Sunday June 1st, will be preceded by a talk by George Monbiot. See their website
http://www.bathmusicfest.org.uk/~bathmusi/index.php?id=103 for further details and to book tickets.

More events will be coming soon. Do you have a burning desire to do something? Let us know how we can help.

See you soon,
paula
